​ Berry- Turmeric Oats & Why being “Perfect” is BOLLOCKS

Oh hey!! I’m munching on this and thought to myself; PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW. Comfort food comes in all shapes, colours and ingredients ha ha. It is important. GOOD FOOD = GOOD MOOD. Food unites the mind, body & soul. The most important relationship you need to have is with yourself, that we know. But it is vital to be aware of the inner relationship too. You HAVE TO QUESTION! I ask myself these daily and I want you to too.

  1. What are you feeding yourself?
  2. Do I LOVE what I eat?
  3. Why am I eating the food I eat?
  4. Where does it come from?
  5. How does it make me feel after?
  6. Am I eating nutrient rich food?
Being mindful isnt just being “Grateful”  & saying “Thank You” etc. It’s also self-care, being aware, paying attention and practicing atleast one thing that makes you feel at ease everyday.

And this bowl makes me feel just that- AT EASE. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of the food I make, puts things into perpective but this one in particular was on a day I was analysing a few things.
I’ve been under a lot of self-inflicted pressure to do the BEST everyday. Be the Best I can be for myself and my son. To be that ” PERFECT” SOUL. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT? I am not perfect and I stopped striving for perfection because Its bollocks. I found myself not enjoying my workouts anymore. And feeling anxious when I would go for interviews or even to meet my friends because of this mindset I was in. So OUR 2 WEEK holiday couldnt have come sooner. I didn’t realise the harm I was doing to myself. I lost my spark and I just couldnt recognise WHO I WAS ANYMORE. I lost myself in this race of being the best. Phew, now that is off my chest I feel 10kgs lighter man.
Now I Am back, smiling and truly happy where I am. I have made it a point to smile when I wake up, breathe deeply, laugh when I workout and Vivir Mi Vida man. Which is LIVE MY LIFE. That is everything.
Apologies for that but I want to keep it real man. Otherwise I see no point. Every recipe of mine has a story.
What is required:
1 cup Oats
Fresh Turmeric
Thumb size Ginger
1 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
1 cup Coconut Dream Rice Milk
1/2 smashed up Banana
Cherries/Berries of your choice to garnish
Tiny Basil Leaf or Mint Leaf
Add the cup of oats to a pan, add a little water along with the coconut rice milk, stir on low for a minute before adding the fresh turmeric and turmeric powder. Keep stirring so the porridge doesnt stick to the pan or nburn. Keep it on low too. This should take about 5-7 minutes really. Take off the heat and serve with your favourite toppings.
